Summary
Passionate about turning engineering ideas into machines that work in the real world? Join us as a Senior Mechanical Designer and take ownership of mechanical design for innovative automation solutions — from concept development and detailed design to assembly, testing and final machine buy-off.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the mechanical design and development of automated machines and equipment using SolidWorks.
Develop new machine concepts, mechanisms and design proposals based on project and customer requirements.
Produce detailed 3D models, 2D assembly drawings, part drawings and engineering documentation.
Ensure mechanical designs meet required functionality, performance, quality, safety and cost objectives.
Perform engineering calculations, tolerance analysis and component selection to ensure design reliability and manufacturability.
Generate accurate Bill of Materials (BOM) according to company standards and project requirements.
Review drawings and designs with Engineering, Project and other technical teams before fabrication and assembly.
Manage assigned design activities and ensure deliverables are completed within project timelines and budget requirements.
Work closely with vendors and suppliers on fabrication, component selection and technical issues.
Support machine assembly, setup, testing, troubleshooting and equipment buy-off.
Investigate mechanical design issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective corrective solutions.
Support design changes and continuous improvements based on testing, project and customer feedback.
Review mechanical design work to ensure proper SolidWorks practices, drawing standards and engineering procedures are followed.
Provide technical guidance and design review support to junior designers and engineers where required.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a related discipline.
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in mechanical design, preferably within industrial automation, machine building, semiconductor equipment or manufacturing.
Strong hands-on proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modelling, assemblies and detailed mechanical design.
Able to produce high-quality 2D assembly drawings, cross-section drawings and detailed part drawings.
Good understanding of GD&T, tolerances, fits, materials and manufacturing processes.
Experience preparing and managing BOMs, engineering drawings and design documentation.
Good understanding of machine mechanisms, automation equipment and mechanical component selection.
Experience supporting machine assembly, testing, troubleshooting and equipment buy-off.
Able to evaluate technical problems, identify root causes and develop practical engineering solutions.
Experience reviewing designs and providing technical guidance to junior team members is highly advantageous.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office; exposure to Vectorworks or other engineering design tools is an advantage.
Strong attention to detail with good planning, organization and time management skills.
Able to work independently while collaborating effectively with Engineering, Project, vendors and customers.
Proactive, responsible and able to manage multiple design priorities in a project-driven environment.
