Key Responsibilities
Serve as the technical product owner in Malaysia for UB’s Automated Retrieval System (ARS) and Material Management System (MMS).
Work closely with the Shanghai Product R&D team to drive product enhancements, feature development and software releases.
Analyse customer and regional business requirements, identify product gaps, and translate them into clear functional and technical specifications.
Contribute to software architecture, development and enhancement of product features and integration modules.
Design and develop APIs, middleware, communication interfaces and orchestration services for integration with automation and robotics systems.
Develop integrations between ARS/MMS and technologies such as humanoid robots, AMR/AGV, RFID, barcode systems and industrial equipment.
Participate in product planning, feature reviews, testing, UAT, release validation and deployment readiness.
Ensure product enhancements are scalable, maintainable and aligned with the overall product roadmap and architecture.
Collaborate with customers, robotics vendors, implementation teams and internal stakeholders to validate solutions and resolve technical issues.
Troubleshoot complex software, integration and communication issues across applications, devices and automation systems.
Support product demonstrations, technical evaluations and proof-of-concept activities for new technologies and applications.
Maintain technical specifications, API documentation, release documentation and product knowledge.
Research and evaluate emerging technologies in robotics, Industrial IoT, AI and smart manufacturing for future product development.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to engineers where required, while driving continuous improvement in software and engineering practices.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Robotics, Mechatronics or a related discipline.
Minimum 5 years of experience in software development, system integration, industrial automation or related technical roles.
Strong hands-on development experience in C#, ASP.NET Core, SQL Server, RESTful APIs, Git and Object-Oriented Programming.
Good understanding of software architecture, application design and enterprise software development.
Experience in product requirement analysis, functional specifications, testing/UAT, release management and technical documentation.
Strong system integration experience using technologies such as REST API, MQTT, TCP/IP and WebSocket.
Exposure to RFID, barcode systems, Industrial IoT or manufacturing automation is highly advantageous.
Experience integrating with AMR/AGV, humanoid robots, ROS/ROS2, vision systems or material handling systems is an added advantage.
Familiarity with industrial communication and integration technologies such as OPC UA, Modbus TCP and PLC communication is advantageous.
Experience working with enterprise software products and managing enhancements across the product lifecycle.
Experience collaborating with cross-functional or overseas development teams is preferred.
Exposure to product ownership, solution architecture or technical product management will be an advantage.
Strong analytical, debugging and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex software and integration issues.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to bridge customers, technical teams, vendors and Product R&D.
Proactive and product-oriented, with a strong sense of technical ownership and continuous improvement.
Able to manage multiple priorities across software development, product enhancement and system integration activities.
