FMM Penang Youth Committee Visits UB Center of Excellence

Batu Kawan, 11 November 2022 — The Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) Penang Youth Committee conducted an official visit to the UB Center of Excellence, underscoring growing industry interest in accelerating digitalization and automation across Malaysia’s manufacturing landscape.

Led by Dr. Matin Ng and Deputy Chairman Mr. Yen Wei Yun, the delegation comprised representatives from 16 member companies, with Guest of Honor Dato’ Lee Teong Li, Chairman of FMM Penang, attending the session.

The visit provided a platform for participants to understand how manufacturers can adopt practical, scalable, and cost-effective Industry 4.0 solutions without disrupting existing operations. Through guided tours and live demonstrations, visitors explored UB’s Smart Manufacturing and Warehouse Ecosystem, which integrates automation, digital systems, data intelligence, and workflow optimisation into a unified operational framework.

During the session, UB shared insights into how companies can begin or accelerate their IR4.0 journey — from automating key production and warehouse processes to enhancing traceability, visibility, and decision-making through integrated digital platforms.

The engagement reinforced UB’s mission to make Industry 4.0 adoption accessible and achievable for Malaysian manufacturers by providing end-to-end support, including consultation, engineering design, implementation, upskilling, and continuous optimization.

The visit concluded with a mutual commitment to continue advancing industrial digitalisation, strengthening capability-building, and supporting Malaysia’s long-term competitiveness in the global manufacturing landscape.
