UB Group Pioneers Lights-Off Manufacturing in Semiconductor Industry

KUALA LUMPUR – May 22, 2022 – UB Group, a global leader in industrial automation and Industry 4.0 solutions, celebrated its pioneering role in deploying one of the world's first fully automated “Lights-Off” back-end manufacturing facilities. This landmark, five-year initiative established UB Group as one of the few global system providers with hands-on, real-world experience in creating fully automated, human-less manufacturing lines within the complex and demanding semiconductor sector. This achievement also underpins the company's recent recognition as a premier I4.0 Solution Provider.

The project was launched when a major international technology client recognized UB Group's unique capabilities in developing sophisticated shop floor management solutions. This strategic partnership allowed UB Group to transform the traditional manufacturing site into a high-efficiency, fully autonomous operation, often known as a "dark factory."

UB Group successfully delivered one of the world's first Lights-Off semiconductor back-end assembly and packaging lines, positioning the Group at the forefront of the Industrial 4.0 revolution. The project required the advanced integration of multiple autonomous systems, including Material Handling, Automation Production, and sophisticated Automation Software & Control Systems. This led to major operational gains, notably achieving a 50% workforce reduction and a significant 30% throughput improvement, ensuring higher quality consistency and cost efficiency.
